Another Make-Up Commercial Using a Famous Actress: L'Oreal Mascara- Eva Longoria

This is a L'Oreal mascara commercial using the famous actress Eva Longoria in order to help sell the product. Similar to my prior make-up commercial with Halle Berry, it demonstrates a beautiful and flawless actress, but the public does not realize that all these commercials use the airbrush technique in order to enhance their perfection. This commercial is very catching since it displays a sexy scene in which a man is admiring the actress for her beauty, but mainly for her luminous eyes which is a result of the mascara. This commercial is giving an overall message that if you use this product you will be sexy and attract many men. This message is also emphasized when Eva states lastly, "All eyes on you".

It's very common for companies who can afford to use celebrities in their ads to do so. When celebrities endorse a product we tend to believe that the star uses this product. We're pretty impressionable people; when we see someone like Eva Longoria in a make up commercial, it makes girls want to purchase the make up so that they can look beautiful like her. I don't think we realize that many times these celebrities might not really use these products regularly but are doing the commercial as a means to make some money. Still, I think it's an effective way to sell a product because the fans of the celebrity may want to buy it.

Have you ever seen the 'celebrities without makeup' pictures? Without makeup, Eva Longoria looks so plain. To me, I feel that her advertising of this product is that much more legit, because she needs the product to look that good. Also, other people might realize that this is not what she looks like in real life, and they see what this makeup does for her, and it makes them think 'Well heyyy, if it makes her look like a star, it will most definitely make me look like one.'

That's very true! Most celebrities don't look as flawless without tons of makeup on (though some do). Even so, (or maybe because of that, as Michelle pointed out), using celebrities in ads is definitely a good way to get someone to buy a product. Girls will go through so much to just to "look good". If they see someone who they consider beautiful wearing a certain brand of makeup, they will most likely want to go out and buy it for themselves in hope that they will look as fantastic as the celebrity.
